Home / Exploring Zimbabwe’s Natural Wonders: A Travel Itinerary
Zimbabwe is a beautiful country in Southern Africa with amazing nature that will impress anyone who loves adventure. You can see the stunning Victoria Falls and vast grasslands filled with animals. This place has many beautiful sights for everyone, whether you love nature, seek excitement, or just want to relax. So, are you ready for a fantastic experience? Let’s explore a travel plan that will show you Zimbabwe’s most incredible natural attractions!
Your first day should be all about your arrival in Zimbabwe and settling in. Your fun starts in Harare, the lively capital city. After you get to your hotel, take some time to rest and get used to the new place. In the afternoon, you can visit the lovely Harare Gardens and check out the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, where you can see the country’s amazing art and culture.
For dinner, enjoy some local food at a traditional Zimbabwean restaurant. Be sure to try Sadza, a typical dish made from maize, along with Nyama, which means meat and fresh vegetables.
After a big breakfast, leave early for Victoria Falls, which is a famous and beautiful place in the Hwange district. The journey from Harare to Victoria Falls takes about one hour by plane. However, if you go by bus, it takes significantly longer, around 14 hours. If you have the time to spare, we suggest going by bus because it’s a much more scenic route, making the journey enjoyable. Just rest throughout because you have a lot to explore ahead.
When you get there, check-in at your hotel and go straight to Victoria Falls National Park. Here, you can see the fantastic falls that drop up to 108 meters into the Zambezi River. You will hear the loud roar of the water and feel the mist in the air, making it a unique experience that will take your breath away. You can walk around different spots to see the falls from various angles.
After seeing the beautiful Victoria Falls, the next day, visit Zambezi National Park to enjoy more of Zimbabwe’s amazing nature. This large park has two main areas: one by the river and another inland, each with unique sights and animals.
In the morning, take a guided drive along the Zambezi River to spot elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and different kinds of antelope. You might also see hippos and crocodiles in the river and over 400 species of birds.
Lastly, in the afternoon, try canoeing on the river for a peaceful adventure. You can paddle alongside animals drinking water, giving you a closer look at the park’s natural beauty.
After breakfast, you must travel to Hwange National Park, one of the biggest parks in Zimbabwe. When you get there, check into your lodge and prepare to see some animals in the afternoon.
In the late afternoon, you can go on a guided game drive to explore the beautiful park. Hwange is home to more than 100 types of mammals and 400 types of birds, making it a great place for animal lovers.
On the fifth day, visit Matobo National Park. This park has beautiful rocky hills and a lot of history. You can see old rock paintings and the grave of a famous man named Cecil Rhodes.
Take a guided tour to see the Balancing Rocks and enjoy incredible views from the top of a hill. You can also choose to go on a rhino-tracking adventure to see white and black rhinos in the wild. So, it is the perfect balance of learning and adventure.
On your last day, enjoy a relaxed drive back to Harare. If you have time, stop by the Lion and Cheetah Park to see these fantastic animals up close.
After that, it’s time to go to the airport for your flight. As you leave Zimbabwe, remember the beautiful views, the incredible animals you saw, and the friendly people you met.
